This complex position requires business management skills (including personnel management, financial management, professional communication, and excellent public relations) as well as some technical knowledge about construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, culverts, and related structures.
The Director will be responsible for administrative and supervisory duties such as ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, applying for project funding and compliance with all reporting requirements thereof, planning and recommending projects for approval, overseeing contracted projects, addressing citizen concerns, and collaborating with technical staff, contracted engineers, and the management team of the department to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery.
The Director is highly involved in the development of the annual department operating budget and oversees all resources of the department.
Marion County is centrally located with great schools and recreational opportunities.
